Maryland Newspaper the Capital Gazette Is Reporting a Mass Shooting in Its Own Newsroom

It is another day of horror in America. This time, a newspaper is reporting on a mass shooting in its own newsroom. The Baltimore Sun reports an active shooter entered the offices of its sister paper, the Capital-Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland, and opened fire. The Capital-Gazette has syndicated the story to its website. Immediately, reports surfaced that multiple people were dead. So far, officials have confirmed five fatalities. USA Today reports the suspect is in custody.

Phil Davis, a courts and crime reporter for the paper, began tweeting about what he saw Wednesday:

A single shooter shot multiple people at my office, some of whom are dead.

Gunman shot through the glass door to the office and opened fire on multiple employees. Can’t say much more and don’t want to declare anyone dead, but it’s bad.

There is nothing more terrifying than hearing multiple people get shot while you’re under your desk and then hear the gunman reload
